ProZ.com, Version 1.00

PROZ fills in a gap in ProComm communications program, version 2.4.2
which lacks the Zmodem file transfer protocol. PROZ can be called from
ProComm. PROZ in turn will call DSZ, Chuck Forsberg's Zmodem program, and
pass any necessary parameters to it.
This is how PROZ works: Install PROZ.COM as the "editor" of ProComm. You can
do this by hitting "Alt-S" in ProComm for the setup menu. Then hit "4" for
general setup. Then "1" for editor. Type "PROZ" followed by a carriage
return. Hit the ESCAPE key to get back to the setup menu. Type "S" to save
your new setup on disk.
From now on, whenever you want to download or upload a file using Zmodem,
hit "Alt-A", which is ProComm's command to load the editor. ProComm will
load ProZ.com. Then you hit Page Down if you want to download or Page Up
if you want to upload. If you are requesting an upload, you will be prompted
to enter the file name. PROZ will then call DSZ with whatever command line
parameters are needed.
Please note that this is basically the same way you would do any up- and down-
loads with ProComm with the only exception that with the built-in protocols
you first hit Page down or Page Up and then choose the protocol while in
PROZ it is reversed: First you choose the protocol, then hit Page Down or
Page Up.
It is possible to use DSZ in debugging mode. If you do that, DSZ will display
a detailed account of what it is doing. If you wish to get the details, hold
down the CONTROL key while you are choosing Page Down or Page Up.
The program has an important limitation: This version works only with COM1.
I have been unable to figure out how to tell DSZ to use COM2. If someone
can send me that information, I will write ProZ2.com which will run off of
the COM2 port.
You can write to me at P.O. Box 129, Natrona Heights, PA 15065-0129, or
better yet send me netmail to Fidonet node 129/39.
PROZ.COM was written in the C language on a Tandy 1000 and compiled with
Turbo C, version 1.0.
